Week 13 in the NFL was action-packed, with games spread across Thursday, Friday, Sunday and Monday. As we look ahead to Week 14, one of the most intriguing matchups features the Buffalo Bills taking on the Los Angeles Rams. Let’s dive into a quick recap of Week 13 for both teams before previewing the exciting contest coming up.
The Buffalo Bills dominated in Week 13 against the San Francisco 49ers. They played on a snow-covered field after a blizzard and won 35-10. The Bills jumped out to a 21-3 halftime lead and never looked back. Josh Allen was awesome in this one. He threw the ball just 17 times, completing 13 of them for 148 yards and two touchdowns. The funny thing about one of his touchdown passes was that it was credited to himself. He threw a ball to Amari Cooper, who lateraled the ball back to Allen and he dove into the end zone for the touchdown. Allen also found the end zone once on the ground.
As for the others in the offense, James Cook had a monster day. He carried the ball 14 times and finished with 107 yards and a touchdown. The only other player on the offense that had over 50 yards was Dawson Knox.
The Bills defense also came to play in this one, allowing just 10 points to the 49ers. The 49ers did lose Christian McCaffrey to injury in this one. However, the Bills defense was flying all over the place in the snow, led by their leader, Matt Milano, who just returned from injury. It looks like this Bills team is peaking down the stretch of this season.
Like the Bills, the Rams are coming off a victory. However, it was not in dominating fashion, winning 21-14 in an ugly game. The Saints defense stifled the Rams in the first half, not allowing them to score. But after halftime, Sean McVay came up with a new game plan and outscored the Saints 21-8 in the second half.
After a slow start from quarterback Matthew Stafford, the stat line ended up looking ok. He threw for just 128 yards but added two touchdowns through the air. One to Puka Nacua, who had five catches for 56 yards and DeMarcus Robinson, who finished with two catches for 50 yards. Cooper Kupp had a quiet day for the Rams offense, catching just three balls for 17 yards.
The guy on offense who had the big day was Kyren Williams. Even with Blake Corum seeing eight carries on the day, Kyren Williams still had 16 total touches for 113 yards, and he found his way back into the end zone. It was not a pretty day by any means for the Rams, but they did find a way to win the ball game.
The Bills team is a different animal the Rams are trying to attack. The Bills have allowed the sixth-fewest yards through the air to opposing quarterbacks. While also allowing just 16 passing touchdowns (17th best) and having 13 interceptions (fourth best), according to pro football reference. The Bills are also stingy against opposing wide receivers. They have allowed the fifth-fewest yards and are tied for the third-fewest touchdowns allowed to the wide receiver position.
Looking at the other side, the Rams defense is susceptible to the ground attack. They have allowed the sixth most rushing yards this season and are tied for the sixth most rushing touchdowns. RB James Cook has been a monster this year for the Bills with 11 rushing touchdowns on the season.
With that said, We expect the Bills to keep attacking the Rams on the ground, especially in the red zone. So, for our Bills @ Rams pick, we will be rolling with James Cook scoring at least one touchdown this week.
