Boxing may not have the allure that it used to with fighters like Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier and Mike Tyson in the mix, but the sport has come a long way in developing some of the most dedicated athletes of our time. In this century, we’ve seen plenty of boxers be at the top of their game, and right now there are tons of superstars in the making. Here are five of the best boxers around right now, boasting unbelievable records and tons of world titles.
David Benavidez starts the list of most successful boxers around right now as one of the three total Americans on this list. He is one of the three top competitors in the light heavyweight division alongside Canadian boxer Artur Beterbiev and Russian fighter Dmitrii Bivol. Beginning his career back in 2013, Benavidez would go for a career total of 160 rounds in the ring, taking home the WBC interim world light heavyweight belt in 2024 and most recently the WBA world light heavyweight title in 2025. He has yet to lose a fight with his 30-0 record, and 80% of those wins have been by knockout.
Next on our list is the super welterweight champion, Terence Crawford, who is the second American to appear on this list of top professional boxers around right now. In his 245 career rounds in the ring, Crawford achieved a 75% knockout rate in his bouts since 2008. Crawford has achieved 13 world titles across four separate weight classes, including the WBO lightweight, WBO junior welterweight, WBC super lightweight, WBO welterweight, IBF welterweight, WBC welterweight, WBA welterweight super, WBA light middleweight and the WB interim light middleweight titles. In total, Crawford’s career record sees him at an undefeated 41-0, and he is the current holder of the WBO interim world super welterweight belt as well as a two-weight undisputed world champion.
The final American fighter on this list, Gervonta Davis, rivals that of Terence Crawford from the lightweight division. Davis is much younger though, and has seen a total of 30 bouts for 138 combined rounds. Since he began boxing professionally in 2013, he’s showcased a whopping 93.3% knockout rate, meaning he doesn’t often leave the final decision up to the judges. Nicknamed “Tank”, Davis boasts a perfect 30-0 modern boxing record while claiming multiple world titles, including the WBA lightweight (held since 2023) and IBF super featherweight. Sadly for enjoyers of Davis’ fights, he plans to retire after 2025.
Next we have Mexican super middleweight champion, Saul Canelo Alvarez. Compared to everyone else on this list, Alvarez has featured in 66 total fights for a total of 508 rounds in the ring, starting his career back in 2005 and ending in 2024 with a 62.9% KO rate. He has an impressive tally of 62 wins and two losses, one of which was his last fight with William Scull. In total, Alvarez has held championship titles in four separate weight classes, including the undisputed super middleweight, the IBF world super middleweight and the WBC light middleweight titles, proving he is undoubtedly one of the greatest boxers in the ring right now.
At time of writing, Japan’s Naoya Inoue is the top-ranked male fighter on boxrec.com ratings. At 31 years of age, he is undefeated with 29 wins and no losses while still looking to climb. Entering his career back in 2021, the 5’5” fighter would find a way to make a name for himself as one of the best there is, becoming the first and only boxer in existence to win the undisputed championship at the super bantamweight while holding 4 major world titles since 2023, including the WBC light flyweight, the bantamweight, the super flyweight and super bantamweight titles. To top it off, 89.6% of his fights have ended in KOs, proving Inoue to be incredibly lethal within the ropes. Overall, Naoya Inoue stands as the pound-for-pound best boxer in the world right now.
