The NBA season is now in the back half, meaning the playoff races are starting to heat up. That is no different for these two teams that we are concentrating on today because of their matchup on TNT. The Golden State Warriors are traveling east to take on a very good New York Knicks team.
It is the primetime matchup, so we broke down both teams’ regular season thus far before previewing the game and making a Warriors @ Knicks pick.
The Golden State Warriors, led by the ageless Stephen Curry, are currently the seventh seed in the Western Conference. While Curry remains the team’s focal point, the Warriors have dealt with injuries and inconsistent performances throughout the season. Jonathan Kuminga was having the breakout season we had all been waiting for but unfortunately went down with an injury, but he should return soon.
The Warriors made a huge move at the trade deadline by getting veteran Jimmy Butler from the Miami Heat. Getting Jimmy Butler is a huge move for this Warriors team, and it just raises the floor of this squad, especially in the playoffs. When “Playoff Jimmy” is engaged, there are not many other players you would rather have in the NBA. The Warriors have already gone on a stretch of winning five games in a row with Butler this season.
With them sitting in the seventh seed right now, they are a team that could put a scare in one of the top teams in the Western Conference in the first round. There are not many teams that have as much championship pedigree as the Warriors do.
The New York Knicks, led by the dynamic Karl-Anthont Towns and the crafty Jalen Brunson, have put together a solid season, currently sitting comfortably in the Eastern Conference playoff mix.
Karl-Anthony Towns has had another standout year, continuing to showcase his versatility as a scorer and rebounder, while Jalen Brunson has been everything the Knicks hoped for this year. His leadership, ability to control the game and clutch performances have transformed this offense, especially in key moments. Brunson’s addition has been a game-changer for a team that was previously missing a true floor general.
This team is much more than just those two players, though. Josh Hart, Mikal Bridges and OG Anunoby are three of the best two-way wings in the NBA and have all three of them on one roster. Plus, they just got their rim protector, Mitchell Robinson, back from injury. This adds a presence to the defense they have so desperately needed. If this Knicks team can stay healthy, they will be dangerous in the Eastern Conference.
This game promises to be a thrilling matchup between two teams with distinct styles. The Warriors, with their championship experience and a dynamic offense led by Curry and Butler, will look to exploit any weaknesses in the Knicks defense. On the other side, New York will rely on their depth and defensive prowess to slow down Golden State’s high-powered attack, with Towns and Brunson leading the charge on offense.
Both teams have the potential to go on a run in the playoffs, and this game will give us a glimpse of how they stack up against one another in a playoff-like atmosphere. The Warriors’ ability to perform in big moments will be tested, while the Knicks will look to prove they can hang with a tough Western Conference foe.
That said, our Warriors @ Knicks pick is on Stephen Curry. Curry has been scorching hot lately, scoring 56 points against a strong Orlando Magic defense and 29 in a loss against the 76ers. He has at least 5 three-point shots in back-to-back games, which is a good sign. So, we are taking Stephen Curry to score more than 25 points against the Knicks.
