Any athlete, college or professional, would agree to play in mild weather conditions, although they must all learn to endure the blistering heat, especially at the beginning of their seasons. The NCAAF season begins in August, with playoffs running into January, so it’s only natural that summer to fall months come with sweltering temperatures!
In this article, we’ll highlight five of the hottest NCAAF games ever, including details on when and where they played the game, what the temperature was, and who won.

Interestingly enough, Oklahoma and Arizona are the two states hosting football games where the heat rises above 100 degrees! More recently, in September of 2023, the Oklahoma State Cowboys would face Arizona State University at Mountain America Stadium, which was notoriously hot in the summer to fall time.
Reaching an overall height of 104 degrees Fahrenheit, Oklahoma State would triumph over the ASU home team 27-15 in one of the hottest NCAAF games ever.

Another scorching game with the ASU Sun Devils this time would end in a 38-2 victory over East Washington, a team that was most likely not used to such intense heat. As the name ‘Sun-Devils’ portrays, Arizona’s home field at Mountain America Stadium was a cooking pot, especially for players down on the turf.
By the end of this early-season 2002 game, Washington players were most likely happy to get off the field out of the 106-degree Fahrenheit temperature. Without a doubt, this game will be remembered by players and onlookers as one of the hottest NCAAF games ever to occur in college sports.

This match featuring the Oklahoma Sooners and Northern Texas took place at Oklahoma Memorial Stadium and would be one for both teams to remember. The Sooners trained in the heat, so it was only natural they’d have the upper hand in playing in 106-degree Fahrenheit temperature.
Northern Texas would be stumped 9-37 without a response to OU or the sweltering heat, as this game would ultimately go down as one of three hottest NCAAF games ever.

The result of this one might be upsetting but almost far from shocking. The Sun Devils would once again lure their prey into Mountain America Stadium, facing Sacramento State in an early season game. ASU would win the game completely unanswered, with an overall score of ASU 55, Sacramento State 0.
While ASU planned to cook Sacramento State in the blistering heat of 107 degrees Fahrenheit all along, you can’t blame Sacramento for trying their best, as this would go in the record books as the second-hottest game in NCAAF history.

Once again, we find ourselves at the hottest game to ever occur in NCAAF history, and who else would be playing besides the Oklahoma Sooners at home against the Texas-El Paso Miners? The temperatures within Oklahoma Memorial Stadium would reach a boiling 108 degrees Fahrenheit, which would favor the fire-born Sun Devils in their 55-14 victory over the UTEP Miners.
They talk about the white heat of competition, but it doesn’t get a whole lot hotter than this game in Oklahoma!
