Ready for some Week 12 NFL action? As we already know, each week of the NFL has something new for both the fans and players, so stay glued to your seat, as there’s always a potential for new records to be set.
You never know what to expect with a packed schedule of football games in one weekend. With that, we’re here to give you the rundown of the most important records set in Week 12 of the 2023-24 NFL season.
Jalen Hurts makes the list of NFL weekly records again with his impressive feat of scoring double-digit touchdowns over more than one professional NFL season. In just his 11th career game with multiple rushing touchdowns, Hurts would surpass Cam Newton to steal the record for most multi-rushing TDs by any QB in football history.
By the end of Week 12 last season, Hurts achieved his third season in a row with double-digit rushing touchdowns, something no other quarterback has done in even 2 consecutive seasons.
One of the best modern tight ends in the game, Kansas City’s Travis Kelce, would achieve 91 receiving yards in his Week 12 2023 matchup against the Raiders. In total, he’d obtained 11,076 receiving yards by this point in his career, which is the fourth-most amount of rushing yards gained by a tight end in NFL history.
To make this accomplishment even more impressive, he’d reach the 11,000-yard mark in just 154 total games, to which the next fastest tight end to reach 11,000 receiving yards was Tony Gonzalez in 191 games.
C.J. Stroud is certainly no stranger to setting new NFL records weekly, and in Week 12 of his 2023 season, Stroud would become the first rookie to throw 300+ yards in 4 consecutive games. He passed Justin Herbert for the second-most passing yards in a player’s first 11 games of their NFL career.
From these stats, Stroud would lead the NFL with six games having 300+ passing yards. Overall, it would be the fifth time this season that Stroud reached 300+ passing yards and threw more than 1 touchdown in a game, tying him for most by any rookie.
With this impressive achievement, Lamar Jackson would put his name amongst some of the best rushing quarterbacks to ever grace the sport. In his 84th career game as a QB for the Ravens, Jackson would reach 5,000 career rushing yards, a feat that’s not easy for most quarterbacks to achieve.
In comparison, only three other NFL quarterbacks have rushed past 5,000 yards in their career, which include the likes of Cam Newton, Michael Vick and Russell Wilson, all of which required 100+ games to reach the 5,000-yard mark.
As the only defensive player on this list, T.J. Watt would make history by becoming one of the few NFL players to record multiple two-plus sack games (20 times). In just 98 career games for the Steelers, Watt would accumulate 91 sacks, which is an insanely high amount!
By the time Watt achieved this record, he’d sit at 13.5 sacks in just the 2023 season by Week 12. Only Hall of Famer Reggie White achieved such a feat, with 105 sacks in his first 100 games.
