Week 14 had a wild slate of games, but now it is time to turn the page to Week 15. With only four games left for all teams, we know the direction of most teams. In the Monday Night Football matchup, we have two NFC North divisional rivals, the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings. Throughout this article, we will give a Week 14 recap from both teams, along with a preview of this matchup and a game pick.
Speaking of a team that we know where they are going, which is the Chicago Bears. They will have a coaching regime change after having a disappointing season. The Bears have lost seven straight and are coming off a 38-13 beating at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers.
It was a tough week for the Chicago Bears offense as they were shut out in the first half in back-to-back games. QB Caleb Williams had a better second half and finished the day 17-23 for 134 yards and two touchdowns. The unfortunate part is that he was also sacked a whopping seven times. One plus from the Bears offense is the growing chemistry between Caleb Williams and WR Rome Odunze. Odunze had 4 catches for 42 yards but caught both of Williams’ touchdowns, one of which was an outstanding catch in the back corner of the end zone.
Everyone else on the offense had quiet days. DJ Moore and Keenan Allen combined for just 79 yards on 9 catches. Also, with the Bears down early in this game, they could not get the running game going. RB D’Andre Swift was the leading rusher, with 14 carries for just 38 yards.
It was a different story for the Vikings in Week 14 as they spoiled the Kirk Cousins homecoming game. The Vikings won 42-21 and sacked Kirk Cousins six times while also picking him off another two times.
QB Sam Darnold was terrific in this one, throwing for 347 yards and 5 touchdowns. Darnold is making a case to be extended by the Vikings or to make a lot of money on the open market. With Darnold having a huge day, his pass catchers benefited as well. WR Jordan Addison led the team in receiving with 133 yards on 8 catches and 3 touchdowns. You also had Justin Jefferson catching 7 balls for 132 yards and the other 2 touchdown receptions. Aaron Jones even added 73 yards on the ground while finding the end zone once.
It was just an all-around great performance from this Vikngs team, as they are full steam ahead toward another playoff appearance.
With both teams heading in opposite directions, I think there is a clear favorite in this game. It looks like the Bears were checked out last week, even with the new head coach, and the Vikings should take care of business.
This matchup between these two teams happened just a few weeks ago, and it came down to the wire, but the Vikings won 30-27 in overtime on the road in Chicago. Jordan Addison had a monster game for the Vikings that day, recording 162 yards and a touchdown. Aaron Jones also had over 100 yards and a touchdown as well.
There is just something about the Bears that Aaron Jones likes. In 14 career games against the Bears, Jones has scored 12 touchdowns and averages 4.8 yards per carry. On the season, the Bears have allowed the third most rushing yards to opposing running backs and fourth most rushing touchdowns. With all that said, I think it is safe to say that our Bears @ Vikings NFL pick will be on Aaron Jones to score at least one touchdown in this one.
