It is officially Week 13 of the NFL season, meaning Thanksgiving Week is finally upon us. That means we have six primetime games to watch. Three games happen on Thanksgiving, one on Black Friday, Sunday Night Football and Monday Night Football. We are here to dive into the Monday Night Football matchup between the Cleveland Browns and Denver Broncos.
Let’s start breaking down this matchup, along with our NFL pick for this Browns-Broncos matchup.
The Browns are coming off one of the most fun games to watch from a fan’s perspective. It was like they were playing in a snow globe, as snow fell from the sky for most of the second half. The Browns came out victorious on Thursday Night Football, winning 24-19.
Cleveland seems to be rallying around QB Jameis Winston even though they sit with just a 3-8 record on the season. Winston finished this one 18-27 for 219 yards and 1 interception. He did find his way into the endzone on the ground, as he jumped through the air and took a big hit at the goal line.
As for the rest of the team, Nick Chubb scored the other 2 touchdowns on the ground. However, he wasn’t very efficient, seeing 20 carries for just 59 yards. The guy who impressed me the most in this game was WR Jerry Jeudy. Jeudy has emerged as the alpha wide receiver in this offense since they traded away Amari Cooper. He caught all six of his targets for 85 yards in tough conditions.
It was a tough day for the rest of the team on offense in the elements. TE David Njoku let a touchdown slip through his hands. That caused him to have just 1 catch for 9 yards, but he did catch a two-point conversion at the start of the fourth quarter.
The Broncos come into this one riding high after a 29-19 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders. It is their second win in a row, and rookie QB Bo Nix is starting to piece it all together.
Nix was in command of the offense all game against the Raiders, picking them apart. Nix finished the game 25-42 for 273 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Oregon product hooked up with his favorite target, Courtland Sutton, for both touchdowns. Sutton had a big day for those starting him on their fantasy teams, finishing with eight catches for 97 yards. Meanwhile, rookie WR Devaugh Vele finished with 6 catches for 80 yards.
Oddly enough, the running game struggled to get going in Week 12. Javonte Williams led the team in carries with 8 but only had -2 yards. Jaleel Mclaughlin was the most effective running back, getting 7 carries for 44 yards. The Broncos defense continued their strong performance and forced two turnovers while sacking Las Vegas five times on the day.
This is an interesting matchup between two teams headed in different directions this season. It looks as though the Browns could be headed toward another rebuild while the Broncos are making a push for the playoffs with a rookie quarterback at the helm.
Now, looking at this specific matchup between the two teams, it will be a close and competitive game. Ultimately, the Broncos should come out on top because their defensive unit is the best in this matchup. Plus, the offense has come around the last few weeks, and Bo Nix has been a huge part of that.
Over the last three games, Box Nix has 8 touchdown passes compared to 0 interceptions. He has thrown for at least two touchdowns in each of those three games, and I expect that trend to continue. That makes our Browns @ Broncos NFL pick Bo Nix throwing for two or more touchdowns.
